Pizza Nova celebrates 50-year milestone

pn_cakecuttingJune 7, 2013, Toronto – The first Pizza Nova restaurant opened 50 years ago in 1963 when four young Italian brothers opened their first pizzeria at the corner of Lawrence Avenue and Kennedy Road in Scarborough.

The dough and sauce were made fresh every day in the restaurant, with only four toppings available: pepperoni, mushroom, green peppers and bacon.
Pizza Nova is still family-owned and represents over 130 locations across Ontario, their dough is still made fresh daily with purified water and wheat, and their pepperoni is a custom recipe produced in Canada for Pizza Nova.

On May 22 at Toronto’s Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex, more than 600 guests comprised of staff, franchisees, suppliers, friends and family celebrated 50 the pizzeria’s 50 anniversary. Guests dined on Italian delicacies, sipped on wine, Campari and Prosecco and indulged on an extravagant cake prepared by Joseph Montinaro of Dolcini.

Pizza Nova also presented a cheque to Variety Village for $76,010, representing funds raised on May 14 during their 14 Annual “That’s Amore Pizza for Kids” fundraiser.
Domenic Primucci, President of Pizza Nova presented 11 members of the Pizza Nova team, who have been with the company between 25 and 40 years, each with an award of recognition along with an all expenses paid vacation for two.
