Pizzerias across Ontario are selling the chain's proprietary tomato
sauce in store from Nov. 12 to Dec. 31, with all proceeds going to a program that supplies hot meals to those who can't afford them.

The Mealshare program is a Canadian social enterprise that partners with restaurants
like Famoso in allowing patrons to purchase Mealshare-branded menu items. For each item purchased, the restaurant donates a meal to someone in need.

“We’ve received so much
positive feedback from people all across Canada for our pizzas and, in
particular, the sauce that we use,”
said Justin
Lussier, founder and chief executive officer of Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria, in a news release.
“We’re very grateful for the
opportunity to be involved with these communities and we thought that this partnership
with Mealshare was an amazing way to give back.”

Last
year, Famoso teams across the country raised over $11,000 to benefit seven food
banks in Canada. This year, the chain and Mealshare are looking to raise $20,000
to provide meals for missions in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.

Famoso restaurants in the three provinces are selling Campania tomato sauce in 500-millilitre jars for $8. In Ontario, guests can pick up a jar of sauce at restaurants in Toronto
(Yorkdale Mall and The Annex) and Waterloo.
