Pizza fundraiser plants 250 trees for Earth Day
Barrie, Ont. – In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Topper’s Pizza pledged to donate $1 to planting trees with the purchase of any of its traditional pizzas.
Thanks to the generous support of their customers, Topper’s Pizza managed to collect $1,000 for Forests Ontario, which will plant approximately 250 trees, the Ontario chain said in a news release.
“This is the first year we have done a promotion like this, and our customers responded so well to it. To raise $1,000 in a one-day effort, shows how much people care about the Earth and want to make a difference,” said Stewart Barton, director of marketing and communications for Topper’s Pizza Canada, in the release. “We’re thrilled with our customer’s enthusiasm and support around this campaign!”
“Topper’s Pizza and their customers’ generous donation ensures more trees are planted across the province this spring. These trees will clean our air and water, sequester carbon, enhance wildlife habitat and continue to provide benefits for generations to come,” said Rob Keen, chief executive officer of Forests Ontario.
The campaign rallied people to “help plant a tree today” with Topper’s Pizza pledging to donate $1 for each purchase of any size of their Deluxe, Veggie, Hawaiian, and Canadiana pizzas.
