Oct. 23, 2012, Mississauga – Boston Pizza International last week unveiled its new
restaurant design at the International Council of Shopping Centers
(ICSC) Canadian Convention. The design, created by Ædifica, features a
state-of-the-art sports bar, a family-friendly, modern dining room
experience and sports-inspired outdoor patio.

"We spent more than a year working on the new design for Boston Pizza
restaurants and landed on this one because it is scalable and allows us
to carry the same look through all of our current and future stores, no
matter the size or location," said Ken Otto, chief operating officer. "From downtown to small town;
urban to suburban, the new design fits."

Boston Pizza's new look will begin to roll-out across the country
through store renovations in 2013. The new interior layout maintains
Boston Pizza's current dual-format model with a sports bar on
one side and family-casual dining on the other, but otherwise, the
space is completely reset. A long hallway flanked by smoky glass walls
leads to the host station, while the sports bar has been re-imagined to
accommodate better sightlines to the patio as well as provide optimal
views of the large screen televisions behind the bar. In the dining
room, ceilings have been lowered to create a more intimate dining
experience and the overall approach to lighting has been enhanced to
create a better dining experience.

The restaurant's exterior will also undergo a complete makeover with a
full stone facade, larger windows and an angled overhang over the front
door that welcomes guests to the restaurant. The patio has also been
completely redesigned to become an oasis for sports enthusiasts.

"The new concept revisits design elements and materials intrinsic to
Boston Pizza's brand DNA. Opening up the exterior facade with a
monumental vestibule, the entrance is more inviting and the angled
canopy serves as a beacon for the store," underlined Stéphane Bernier, director of design for Ædifica.  "Inside, a new lobby area common to
both the restaurant and dining room enhances the user experience and
provides a visual connection throughout the space.  The materiality and
character of the dining room encourages a warm, friendly family
atmosphere, while the bar and newly-designed terrace draws upon
sports-stadium design language to create an open and contemporary
environment."
