Mississauga, Ont. – Joe Leroux, owner of Amadio’s Pizza in Mississauga, Ont., is ringing in the holiday season by running hands-on pizza making classes to support the city’s local Compass Food Bank.
Leroux, our 2016 Chef of the Year and winner of the 2011 Pizza With Purpose award, will run four classes, each limited to 10 participants, on consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on Nov. 26. The other three standalone classes will take place on Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17.
Joe Leroux of Amadio’s Pizza in Mississauga, Ont., snagged Chef of the Year for 2016 with a pizza featuring rosemary potatoes, hickory-smoked bacon and ancient grains.
“We will have a local celebrity or politician attending each of these classes, as well as beer or wine tastings,” owner Leroux said. “One hundred per cent of the money collected for these special classes will be donated to the local Compass Food Bank.”
Participants will create their own pizza their choice of toppings to take home. They will learn about the pizza-making process from beginning to end.
People who donate $40 or more to the Compass Food Bank are eligible to sign up for a class.
Participants can either print out their tickets and bring them to the class or display them on their smartphones. The classes begin at 7 p.m. sharp.
