Feb. 10, 2015, Chicago – Fifty-four
per cent of shoppers plan to spend $100 or more this Valentine's Day,
and the most popular gifts are
lunch and dinner dates, suggests a survey by online shopping consultant Brad's Deals.

"Valentine's
Day shopping isn't as open and shut as it once was," Brad Wilson, chief executive officer for Brad's Deals, in a news release. "The old standbys of roses and chocolate are still
popular, but we're finding that some people would rather receive a
homemade gift or a dine-out meal."

This year's most desired gifts
are, in order, a dine-out meal (44 per cent), jewelry (31 per cent),
flowers (29 per cent), chocolate, candy, or something edible (19
per cent), apparel (12 per cent), and a homemade gift (seven per cent).
Dine-out meals were also ranked first for what shoppers plan to give, as
59 per cent said they'll be buying lunch or dinner for their valentine.

Shoppers
also were asked if it's bad form to use coupons on a first date.
Thirty-seven per cent agreed that using a coupon on a first date is
cheap, while 46 per cent said first-date couponing is fair game.
