Calgary Pizza Fest adds categories to charity-supporting competition

Calgary – YYC Pizza Fest, a popular annual event running Sept. 20 to Oct. 6, will see Calgary pizzerias and restaurants enter a friendly competition to see who can win four new award categories: top rated pizza, most popular pizza, most innovative pizza and fan favourite crust.

The event, started in 2014 by food writer and recipe developer Wanda Baker, founder of YYC Pizza Week, since 2018 is now organized and hosted by Calgary Meals on Wheels,

It is meant to highlight local businesses and the city’s pizza culture, while also helping support a local charity.

Each year, local participating restaurants craft an original pizza recipe for the public to purchase and vote on. From every purchase, a slice of the proceeds goes to Calgary Meals on Wheels.
