at the 2009 CRFA Show, March 8 – 10 in Toronto.

Oct. 10, 2008, Toronto, Ont. – A stellar line-up of chefs and food personalities will take centre stage at the 2009 CRFA Show, March 8 – 10 in Toronto.

Operated by the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association, the CRFA Show is Canada’s largest trade show for the hospitality industry, attracting more than 11,000 visitors last year. The following appearances have been confirmed so far for the 2009 event:

Bob Blumer, “The Surreal Gourmet”

Culinary adventurer Bob Blumer is the host and co-creator of the award-winning television series Glutton for Punishment, now in its third season on the Food Network.  Blumer is best-known as the creator and host of the Food Network series Surreal Gourmet, one of the most innovative and entertaining cooking shows on television. 
 
Chef Giovanna Alonzi          Terroni, Toronto

Since opening in 1992, Terroni Restaurants has grown to three locations in Toronto and one in Los Angeles. Chef Alonzi is the rising star behind the menu at Terroni, where customers are lined up almost every day of the week for true and traditional southern Italian cuisine.

Chef Alex Rolland                 Globe Restaurant, Montreal

Using the best in local produce and the freshest organic ingredients Quebec has to offer, Chef Rolland creates a bold and sumptuous menu at Globe Restaurant, one of the hottest restaurants on Montreal’s St-Laurent Boulevard.

Chef Mark McEwan            North 44, Bymark, One, Toronto

One of Canada’s top chefs and restaurateurs, Mark McEwan returns by popular demand to the 2009 CRFA Show.  Chef McEwan uses seasonal ingredients from the best local producers to create his distinctive yet simple dishes. He also hosts the popular series The Heat on the Food Network. 

Dale DeGroff, “King of Cocktails”

Legendary bar chef Dale DeGroff is best known for his work at the famous Rainbow Room in New York, where he pioneered a gourmet approach to recreating classic cocktails.  He has also invented hundreds of his own cocktails using fresh and exotic ingredients.  DeGroff will appear on stage courtesy of Diageo.

The popular seminar series at the CRFA Show will be headlined by Jim Laube, founder and president of RestaurantOwner.com , an online resource centre for independent operators.  Laube provides practical advice to restaurateurs who want to boost profits and improve their business management practices.

The CRFA Show will take place at the Direct Energy Centre in downtown Toronto, March 8 – 10, 2009.  The CRFA Show is trade only, and is not open to the public.
