Bob Blumer taking a crack at Guinness Record

By Canadian Pizza

June 22, 2010, Toronto – Bob
Blumer, host of the Food
Network
series Glutton for Punishment, is out
to
break the Guinness World Record for Most Pizzas Made in One
Hour by
an individual.

In each episode of season
five, Blumer will attempt to break a different
food-related
Guinness World Record. At 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 4,
during Toronto's Corso Italia Festival, Blumer will set out
to
break the Guinness World Record for Most Pizzas Made in One
Hour by
an individual. The event will take place at the corner of St. Clair West
and Greenlaw Avenue.
All of
Blumer's pizzas will be served to the audience.

The current Guinness World Record is a mind-boggling 142 pizzas
set in
2008 by Donnie Rush, a Dominos
Pizza general manager in Gulfport,
Mississippi. That is one 12-inch pizza every 25 seconds. Rush beat
the
previous record of 93 pizzas.

"When you really think about it, I pretty much have to make a
pizza
every 20 seconds," says Blumer. "So
I am trying not to think about it."

To prepare for this crazy feat, Bob will get a pizza making crash
course
under the tutelage of celebrity chef Massimo Capra of Mistura and
Sopra
Lounge fame. He will also be schooled in the fine art of dough
stretching by caterer and pizza aficionado Pino Padula from Chef
on 2
Wheels.

The record-breaking edition of Glutton for Punishment
airs
on the Food Network Canada in
January 2011 and is produced by
Paperny Films. Bob Blumer
previously broke the Guinness World Record for
the Most Pancakes Made in One Hour during the Calgary Stampede in 2008
by single-handedly making 559 pancakes. He set the record by just
four
pancakes for a total of 559 pancakes, beating the previous record
of 555.
