Vaughan, Ont. — It will be a sight worth seeing at Revel Park on July 14th, 2019, during the Vaughan Pizza Fest, presented by Saputo.

On that day, five pizzerias will band together under the guidance of “Pizza Dude” Roberto Vergalito, feeding 60 feet of raw dough and ingredients, estimated at 300 pounds, into a Hot Rocks Stone Conveyor Oven, with the world’s longest calzone coming out the other side.

It is an official Guinness World Record attempt to make the longest calzone in the world and to this date, there has not been a previous one.

The dough for the behemoth calzone will be made with 309 pounds (140 kilograms) of flour, 12 ounces of dry yeast, two pounds (one kilogram) each of salt and sugar and olive oil. It will be stuffed with 1,200 ounces (36 litres) of tomato sauce, 44 pounds (20 kilograms) of dry cured pepperoni and 132 pounds (60 kilograms) of Saputo Mozzarellissima Cheese.

Once cooked, the calzone will be eaten on site, with any leftovers distributed to local shelters.

The World Record attempt will take place Sunday, July 14th at 1 p.m.

Vaughan Pizza Fest takes place July 12th to 14th at Revel Park near Highways 7 and 400. It will feature live entertainment and exciting events such as a pizza eating contest. Saputo, a top supplier of cheese used in pizza recipes in Canada, is the title sponsor of this event.
