COVID-19 Updates News Business and Operations Finance Marketing inKind restaurant gift cards silverchef

Vancouver – A national initiative, #ServingHospitality, aims to keep Canadian restaurants resilient to the financial challenges caused by COVID-19 by providing them with a cash injection at a time when they need it most.

Hospitality financier SilverChef and community financing platform inKind are working together to provide a way for customers to buy gift cards to their favourite restaurant.

Customers can purchase e-gift cards to the restaurant of their choice – whether that’s a pizzeria, café, restaurant, coffee shop or bar – to be redeemed once the business reopens its doors. Registered businesses will also be offering an additional value credit on customer purchases between 10 per cent and 30 per cent, at the discretion of the business itself.

One hundred percent of purchases (excluding credit card fees) will go directly to hospitality businesses, and customers will be able to redeem their e-gift card through the inKind app. Customers also have the option to share any portion of their gift card with friends and family through the inKind app. Customers can support their favourite restaurants by visiting servinghospitality.org.

Partners of the #ServingHospitality initiative include Restaurants Canada and the BC Hospitality Foundation.

The platform, inKind, is waiving traditional commission fees and SilverChef is providing its financial support to the campaign.

To be featured on the #ServingHospitality website, interested businesses may sign up at servinghospitality.org. Businesses will be profiled on the website, and on the inKind app, within 24 hours of registration.
