Hilo, Hawaii – February 22, 2006 – A local man’s dreams come to fruition after 42 years. Jim King will introduce Big Island Pizza this week to the residents of Hilo. King, along with his wife, Joy fell in love with Hilo when they first visited in 1997, then settling here in 2004.
“This has been my dream since I worked in a pizza place as a youth, I am absolutely ecstatic”, said King. He added “The people of Hilo have been so warm & friendly to us, we think of it like working in paradise.” King & his wife will personally operate the gourmet pizzeria. They plan to employ at least 7 other persons. The pizzeria offers carryout & free delivery with an eye on customer service.
In preparation for the grand opening King has spent months completely renovating the historical building located at 760 Kilauea Avenue, across from the old JC Penny building. King made a commitment to the community by procuring a long term lease on the property and refurbishing the outside facade and landscape. Many a passerby recognizes that King’s efforts have enhanced property values in the neighborhood and stop to say, “We love what you are doing to the building.” Patio dining and parking are notable results of King’s investment.
Intensive market research brought King to the gourmet pizza niche. “There is nothing like this in the area” said King. His menu features a wide range of adult tastes like King’s signature BBQ chicken pizza. Seven different vegetarian pizzas, along with traditional pizza will also be served. The King’s take pride in the culinary skills they have developed from living in different regions across the country. Big Island Pizza dishes up fresh homemade dough and innovative sauces to the Hilo – proper area at competitive prices.
To view the extensive menu, visit www.BigIslandpizza.com or phone 808-934-8000. Operating hours are 11 am – 9 pm daily.
