Redberry buys 16 Pizza Huts

Redberry Resto Brands Inc. announced it has bought 16
Pizza Hut restaurants in Ontario, its second major acquisition in less
than 18 months.  Of the 16 restaurants, eight are in the Ottawa area
and eight are in the Kingston area.

restoRedberry Resto Brands Inc. announced it has bought 16 Pizza Hut restaurants in Ontario, its second major acquisition in less than 18 months.  Of the 16 restaurants, eight are in the Ottawa area and eight are in the Kingston area.

The restaurants, with 350 employees, were previously owned by Yum Brands Inc. of Louisville Ky., which also owns the KFC, Taco Bell and A&W restaurant chains.

In September 2005, Redberry bought 40 Pizza Huts to become the principal Pizza Hut franchisee in Quebec.

Redberry said it will invest about $4 million in 2007 and 2008 to revamp the interior and exterior of its new restaurants in Ontario. The company is currently investing about $12 million to renovate restaurants in Quebec.

Christian LeBrun, general manager of Redberry, noted that the company will pursue the same development objectives in Ontario it has in Quebec.
