December 16, 2011, Toronto – Pizzaiolo founder Luigi Petrella is preparing to serve up gourmet pizza slices for his restaurants' inaugural SickKids Day.

On Dec. 19, one dollar from every slice sold will be donated to help fund cystic fibrosis research at SickKids Hospital. In addition, Pizzaiolo will give customers an opportunity to provide a donation at the cash and will match all donations received.

“It’s important for Pizzaiolo to support SickKids and their world-class doctors and researchers who work tirelessly every day to help kids affected with all types of conditions,” explained Petrella. “We have a personal connection within the Pizzaiolo family to cystic fibrosis and we want to ensure we help SickKids conduct further research to help find new treatments for the disease through this campaign.”

Ten-year-old cystic fibrosis patient and SickKids Patient Ambassador Lauren Anderson will be at Pizzaiolo's Church Street location, helping Petrella cook up pizza for the fundraiser.

All of Pizzaiolo’s 27 stores across Toronto will be participating in SickKids Day.
