Pizza Pizza scores Webby win

May 24, 2011, Toronto – Pizza Pizza’s smartphone app has won the chain a Webby Award, recognizing excellence on the Internet.
The Pizza Pizza smartphone ordering app, developed by mobile marketing agency Plastic Mobile, was named this year’s best shopping tool for a handheld device. The win comes a little more than a month after the app launched for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Other nominees in the category included American retailers Target and Walgreens.
“We’ve really made a push to enter the online world through our web ordering system and now our mobile app,” said Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer for Pizza Pizza. “This is a big win for us. It proves that we’ve delivered when it comes to reliability and convenience, which are characteristics of our that customers have really come to expect and value.”
Since 1996, the Webby Awards have been the leading international organization to honour excellence on the Internet. A diverse panel of judges from around the world votes on the annual awards.
