dec10slicesforsmilesfundthumbpzDecember 10, 2010, Toronto – Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73 wrapped up this year’s Slices for Smiles fundraiser by presenting Children’s Miracle Network with a cheque for $175,000.

The cheque presentation took place at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children earlier this week, during a pizza party to celebrate the fundraiser’s success.

“We are dedicated to putting smiles on children’s faces and improving lives across the country,” Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer for Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73. “Our team is thrilled to have seen customers come together to support this great cause, helping us to exceed our fundraising expectations.”

The Slices for Smiles Fund began in 2007, with the aim of providing children with a better quality of life. Twice each year – during the third week of April, and again during the third week of October – Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73 restaurants across the country sell discounted pizzas and donate proceeds to the fund.

Since it’s launch, the Slices for Smiles Fund has raised approximately $585,000 in support of children’s charities across Canada. This is the third year in a row the annual Slices for Smiles fundraiser has supported Children’s Miracle Network, an international non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children.

Each year, over 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals – including 14 in Canada – provide medical care, life-saving research and preventive education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind.
