September 27, 2010, Toronto – Pizza Pizza’s contest to name the chain’s new hand-stretched garlic and herb seasoned cheesy garlic bread has a winner.
A panel of product developers and senior Pizza Pizza management chose Jiwoun Back’s “Halfmoon Cheesy Bread” from a pool of more than 700 suggestions. For her winning entry, Back, a 28-year-old Kitchener resident, wins $1,000 and a year’s supply of garlic bread.
“I’m really excited to have won this contest because I love to be creative with food,” said Back, who is currently studying to become a chef.
Last month Pizza Pizza announced that Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge would be the exclusive test markets for its cheesy garlic bread until the product was named. Now that the contest is over, Pizza Pizza will be rolling out Halfmoon Cheesy Bread at locations nationwide,
To celebrate, Pizza Pizza held a special community pizza party in Cambridge on Saturday with Back as the guest of honour.
