Debra Bradshaw of Zep Manufacturing is this year’s Women In Food Industry Management’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

Bradshaw is a technical consultant at Zep, a leader in the manufacturing of industrial and institutional maintenance and sanitation products since 1937. Statistics show that food industry managers expect a safe and quality food product and one of the most important steps in production is the establishment of an effective sanitation program that protects both customers and employees. Bradshaw, through Zep, works with the food industry providing training, sanitation procedure manuals, compliance assistance and plant audits.

The award depicts an Inukshuk, a Canadian symbol for “Making A Difference.” The award was presented to Bradshaw for: enlightened management; responsible leadership; and the importance of her personal contributions to Women In Food Industry Management.

Bradshaw has been in the food industry for 11 years with her current employer, loves her job, loves the food industry and was selected for this award because of her newsletter called The Food Newz, which highlights events, trainings, trade shows and websites of interest to the food processing industry. It allows busy people in the food industry to find information on what’s happening at a glance in a conveniently laid out e-newsletter.

Many food associations that are promoted in this newsletter are experiencing an increase in membership and support thus allowing them to support the industry more effectively and have more moneys for student scholarships within the food industry.

Bradshaw sits on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Food Protection Association and supports Big Brothers, Big Sisters in their annual fundraisers.
