Barrie, Ont. – In a nod to comfort food, Topper’s Pizza Canada has introduced a Meatball Amore pizza and is launching its Meatball Crustano Sandwich across all stores.

“Our Sudbury location has been indulging in the meatball sandwich for decades,” said Emaan Toppazzini, director of menu innovation for Topper’s Pizza, in a news release.“ We are thrilled that we are now able to offer this sandwich in every location.”

Previously, the meatball sandwich was limited to select locations due to the difficulty in sourcing a customized bun, the release said. Known for their trademark Authentic ItalianBread Crust, Topper’s scoured North America taking almost a year to find the perfect bun that would embody the Topper’s experience. “The bun is substantial, it’s crusty, tasty, and rich,” said Toppazzini. “In our sandwich, you really get to taste the bread, which I think makes it something different.”

The Meatball Crustano features tender beef meatballs, fresh mozzarella cheese with Topper’s Pizza Canada’s custom vine-ripened marinara sauce. “It is hearty, but simple,” said Toppazzini. “It is true comfort in a bun, our Northern locations love it, and we are thrilled that we can now offer it across the board.”

The Meatball Amore pizza was developed with comfort in mind, enhancing the tender meatballs with bacon, Italian sausage and their cheese blend.

When asked about future sandwiches, Toppazzini said the possibilities are endless. “We have so many delicious toppings that we can turn into unique sandwich creations,” she said.
