Toronto – The Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario will host educational and tasting events, open to all, around the theme of pizza from Nov. 14-17 in Toronto.

CentItalia: Gusto Cultura is a week-long series of events dedicated to authentic Italian food and lifestyle. Events are held in collaboration with Centennial College and other Italian food industry sponsors.

Three chefs-in-residence, directly from Italy, will deliver classes, lectures and workshops that are open to the general public and industry members, the ICCO said in a news release.

Highlights include a pizza tasting evening and launch of Pizza Cultura, a book celebrating pizza ingredients and trends, on Nov. 14 at the Liberty Grand at Exhibition Place. Master pizza maker Chef Franco Pepe, Michelin Star Chef Cristina Bowerman and Chef Ugo Mura will be demonstrating, and the ICCO will announce an upcoming collaboration between Centennial-IFSE and ICCO aimed at helping students pursue an education in Italian culinary arts.

Chef Pepe will hold a master class at Viva Napoli Pizzeria on Nov. 15, with two sittings: 12:30-2 p.m. and 2:30-4 p.m. Chef Franco Pepe will demonstrate the secrets of authentic Italian pizza, suggest wine pairings and discuss ingredients and preparation.

That night at Terroni Ristorante, the ICCO will host a fundraising dinner dedicated to women in business. A panel of businesswomen will discuss opportunities in the workplace, touching on personal and professional growth through leadership, education, networking support and recognition. The discussion will be followed by a seated dinner. The ICCO will kick-start fundraising with a donation towards the establishment of a scholarship benefiting sole-support mothers and helping them in their education towards future success in the culinary industry.

A tasting dinner with Chef Cristina Bowerman (Nov. 16) and tasting lunch with Chef Ugo Mura (Nov. 17) at Nella Cucina, and Pentola d’Oro gala evening at Chateau Le Parc in Vaughan (Nov. 17) round out the week.
