Delivery/takeaway shows twice the growth of other food-service sectors: report

Orlando, FL – Research from Aaron Allen & Associates restaurant consultants suggests Domino’s and Little Caesar’s are leading sales in the Only Delivery and Takeaway and Pizza Hut shares the top sales spot with Applebees in the full-service category.

Sixty-three per cent of the top 100 highest grossing independent restaurants in 2017 were also included in the rank back when it first launched, in 2014, Aaron Allen & Associates said in a company blog on the research.

“Convenience is driving the sales of the Only Delivery and Takeaway and Fast Food restaurant segments internationally,” the company says. “2016 growth in Only Delivery & Takeaway restaurants was double the overall food-service growth, with Domino’s and Little Caesar’s as the largest players in this segment [3.2 per cent growth].”

Burger restaurants account for the largest share of restaurant sales at 31 per cent; casual dining accounts for 20 per cent. Beverage/Snack has shown growth at 11 per cent; Chicken also has grown at nine per cent.

Pizza accounts for eight per cent of restaurant busines.
