TORONTO – Membership in the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) has surpassed the 31,000 mark – a record high for the 62-year-old industry association.

“CRFA is one of Canada’s largest business associations, and one of the most effective when it comes to mobilizing its members against harmful government proposals,” says CRFA President Douglas Needham. “Our success as an association is a direct result of the ongoing support we’ve received from industry operators. With more than 31,000 members across Canada, we are well-positioned to deliver a strong message to government on the issues that affect our members – from the importance of sales tax relief to the urgent need for agricultural reform.”

In addition to representing the interests of members to government, CRFA also offers an extensive menu of savings for its members on core business needs such as credit and debit card rates, natural gas, and long distance. CRFA also provides members savings through its ownership of Groupex – a group buying program for independent restaurant operators – and four annual trade shows: HostEx and the Canadian/International Food & Beverage Show in Toronto; ApEx in Halifax; and the B.C. Food Service Expo in Vancouver.

Founded by a handful of restaurateurs in 1944, CRFA surpassed the 31,000-member mark in January 2006. Its members represent all sectors of Canada’s foodservice industry, including independent and chain restaurants, hotels, social and contract caterers, bars, nightclubs, and institutional foodservice.

CRFA serves foodservice operators from coast-to-coast through its offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax and a network of 11 membership consultants across the country. For more information about CRFA and the $50-billion industry it represents, visit www.crfa.ca .
