Canada-B.C. Job Grant aims to help further employee training

Vancouver – The Canada-B.C. Job Grant program has allocated up to $500,000 for employers who want to further their employee’s training.

WorkBC announced the Canada-B.C. Job Grant program has allocated up to $500,000 to a CJG New Canadian Fund. The fund opened on Jan. 4 to applications from eligible organizations and employers to train refugees, protected persons entitled to work in Canada, and new immigrants (arrived in Canada within the last five years) for new or existing jobs, the WorkBC website says. Employers must contribute one-third of the cost of training, with government covering the other two-thirds.

A new dedicated Refugee Fund will open on Jan. 11, with another $1 million targeted to applications from industry/sector and employer associations wanting to work with employers to deliver job readiness, job match and job specific skills training to refugees arriving in B.C.  Employers must contribute one-third of the cost of job specific training, with government covering the other two-thirds. In addition, the CJG will open more broadly to BC Jobs Plan Priority Sectors, with targeted funding of up to $3 million. Applications are being accepted as of Jan. 4. For more information, check here.
