Mandatory charge for bags in effect soon

May 20, 2009, Toronto – Starting June 1, stores in Toronto, including restaurats, must charge customers at least five cents per plastic bag.

The city sent full details about the bylaw to retailers in in mid-May, along with two copies of signs for use at
point-of-sale. Businesses can find more
