Coca-Cola’s newest packaging format has been dubbed the “Shortie.”  The new bottle format will follow the same distinctive contour shape of the original Coca-Cola bottle, only – shorter.  Designed to offer the same volume as the 355mL can with the convenience of a
re-sealable bottle, the Shortie is marketed as the ideal packaging format for on-the-go lifestyles.

Portable, convenient and re-sealable, Shortie is the next step in the continually evolving line of Coca-Cola packaging.  First, they offered a dose of nostalgia with the re-introduction of the original 237 mL glass bottle, and now they’ve launched into the 2005 summer season with this latest innovation in packaging.

“Packaging innovations are essential to meeting consumer needs and desires,” says Silvio Annosantini, Director, Innovations, Coca-Cola Ltd.  The new launch is an attempt to provide
consumers with more than just new flavours, but also packaging that adjusts to their individual lifestyles.

The new bottles will also be available in an 8-Pack Fridge Mate™.  The Fridge Mate recently won Coca-Cola the 2004 Best New Product Award for best packaged beverage innovation as voted on by Canadian consumers.  Canadians can expect National distribution of the newest-sized bottles just in time for summer.  Initially, the Shortie will be available in Coca-Cola Classic©, Diet Coke©, Sprite© and DASANI© bottled water.
