Vancouver – Freshslice Pizza is launching a charity that supports sports associations in British Columbia on Aug. 11.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, between 4 and 8 p.m. every Freshslice location will give away by donation 50 personal size take ’n’ bake pizzas.

“Across B.C., groups are facing financial challenges. Many of these organizations are in need of funding in all areas of sport such as: equipment, uniforms, venue reservations, etc. Freshslice Cares’ primary purpose will be to contribute financially to sports associations and facilitate and promote youth sports,” said Ray Russell, founder and chief executive officer of Freshslice.

The new charity plans on raising $100,000 during its first year. Funding comes from individual donors who drop change into Freshslice in-store donation boxes, fundraisers, community organization donors, corporate sponsorships, franchise owners and international headquarters. Expenses are covered by Freshslice’s head office as everyone involved is donating their time to ensure 100 per cent of funds raised goes directly to the charity.
