Daiya named PETA’s company of the year

dec21daiyacheesepzDecember 21, 2010, Vancouver – Daiya Foods has won the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) Company of the Year Award for its dairy-free, vegan cheese products.

The Vancouver-based company was awarded one of PETA’s Proggy Awards, which are presented to people, companies and organizations that exemplify animal-friendly progress in culture and commerce. As a winner, Daiya will receive a framed certificate and the opportunity to use the Proggy logo in its promotional materials.

“Daiya is satisfying North America’s growing demand for vegan options in the most delicious ways imaginable,” says PETA president Ingrid E. Newkirk.

Daiya’s shredded cheeses are available in cheddar and mozzarella styles. They company says their products have all the flavour and texture of dairy-based cheeses but none of the cholesterol and are free from artificial ingredients, preservatives and hormones.
