January 20, 2010, B.C. – The ‘No Meal Tax’ campaign that the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) has been running in B.C. since mid-December 2009 has delivered results so far, as many British Columbian’s have stepped forward to stand against the impending HST meal tax.

Thanks to the efforts of the CRFA's B.C. members and their staff, more than 140,000 British Columbians have signed the No Meal Tax petitions. Many petitioners have also separately asked their local MLA and MP to exempt restaurant meals form HST. Moreover, almost 4,000 people have joined the No Meal Tax Facebook group to oppose the proposed meal tax.

Including in-store petitions and billfold inserts, the No Meal Tax campaign – online at www.nomealtax.ca – serves up facts and figures on the impact of a new 7 per cent tax on restaurant food, and connects to an online petition.
