Calling all pizza makers! Register to compete

Mississauga, Ont. – The Canadian Pizza Show is for everyone involved in the Canadian fresh pizza industry: owners, managers, prep people, chefs, pizza makers, servers, front counter people and delivery staff in both independent and franchise pizzerias. To celebrate Canadian pizzerias and encourage participation, we are pleased to open up additional spots in our Chef of the Year competition! We now have room for 36 competitors to vie for pizza glory and win some amazing prizes!

Besides the top prizes for Chef of the Year (spot to compete at Pizza Expo, trip to Las Vegas, $1,000) and runner-up (spot to compete at Pizza Expo and trip to Las Vegas), we will present a framed award to our third-place finisher and award additional prizes – to competitors and attendees – on the show floor! All competitors receive a letter of recognition just for competing – a letter that tells your customers you are a cutting-edge pizzeria!

But competing is about so much more than prizes – it’s about making your pizzeria stand out from the crowd, taste-testing other pizzas and jump-starting your creativity! Want to take your pizza-making skills to the next level? Test out a recipe idea to a wide, hungry audience? Give your pizzeria a signature pie and selling point? Then you need to throw your hat in the ring!

Last year’s Chef of the Year Joe Leroux won with a pierogi-inspired pizza on a crust packed with ancient grains. “Events like the Canadian Pizza Show and International Pizza Expo are “your HR department, your R&D department and your marketing department all rolled into one,” Leroux says. “The stuff you learn there you cannot learn anywhere else, under one roof. It’s all about collaboration.”

“I really enjoyed competing in pizza games around the world,” says two-time Canadian Pizza Chef of the Year and international award winner Diana Cline. “I made some amazing pizzaiolo friends who share my passion for the art of pizza, and the awards that I won helped to set me and my business apart from the low-priced pizza chains.”
