June 6, 2008, Mississauga, Ont. – Boston Pizza International Inc. is actively seeking franchisees for new restaurants and sports bars throughout Ontario. Boston Pizza currently has 83 locations in Ontario and plans to open 20 new locations in 2008. The brand has been successful with local ownership in locations all across the province.

“When a local resident owns and operates a Boston Pizza restaurant, it creates a true sense of community,” says George Heos, Vice President, Franchise Development for Eastern Canada, Boston Pizza International. “It allows our franchisees and staff to reach out, and stay connected and relevant with their guests.”

“Boston Pizza provides end-to-end support to our franchisees from real estate and construction to marketing and operations to ensure their profitability and continually improve the guest experience," continues Heos.  "However, the key to the phenomenal success our franchisees is their ability to forge strong connections with the local community.”

Every Boston Pizza franchise creates 80 – 100 new jobs and is an active member of the community year-round.  Franchisees sponsor local sports teams and schools, and raise funds for local charities through the Boston Pizza Foundation, which has raised more than $7.7 million for various Canadian charities since its inception in 1990.

“You go into business for yourself, not by yourself,” says Mark Pacinda, President of Boston Pizza International.  “Franchisees are really investing in two major assets – Boston Pizza’s brand and our proven systems for managing a profitable operation.”

For entrepreneurs wanting to get into business, franchising offers the best of both worlds – the opportunity to own and manage a business, and leverage the strength of an established brand and proven business model.   “Boston Pizza is committed to ensuring the success of each individual franchisee,” says Richard Enright, who operates five Boston Pizza restaurants in southwestern Ontario and seven in Manitoba.  “Once you’re on board, Boston Pizza stays with you every step of the way from finding the right location, to providing intensive training and ongoing support.”

Boston Pizza recently celebrated the opening of its 300th full-service location in Canada. In 2007, Boston Pizza generated system-wide sales of $755 million and served more than 38 million guests.  Boston Pizza was also named one of Canada’s Top 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures by Waterstone Human Capital in 2007.

Boston Pizza has been recognized as a member of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for 14 years in a row and in 2003 was inducted into the Canadian Franchise Association’s Hall of Fame.  Boston Pizza International Inc. is headquartered in Richmond, B.C. and has regional offices in Mississauga, Ont. and Laval, Que. to support its expansion.  For more information, visit www.bostonpizza.com.
