February 16, 2010, Toronto – In support of its education programs, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) has teamed up with Boston Pizza to launch a national gift card initiative.
The new program will feature Boston Pizza gift cards that have been specially designed for each of the 60 CHL member clubs. Individual team gift cards are available for purchase online at the Boston Pizza website and can be redeemed at any of the pizza restaurant’s Canadian or U.S. locations. When fans purchase a gift card featuring their favourite CHL club logo, five per cent of the purchase amount will be donated by Boston Pizza towards that CHL team’s education program.
“The CHL is very excited about this expanded partnership with Boston Pizza and for their commitment to the CHL Education Program through the new CHL gift card initiative” said CHL president David Branch. “This year the CHL collectively contributed a record $4.45 million towards 1,040 academic scholarships allowing our student athletes to pursue their goals on the ice and in the classroom.”
“We are excited about the launch of this new national gift card program” said Ryan Ashton, manager of digital marketing and sponsorships for Boston Pizza. “We are proud of our relationship with the CHL and we look forward to joining CHL fans across the country in support of academic scholarships for their favourite players.”
