September 14, 2011, Toronto – Boston Pizza has hired Michael Gray as director of culinary and executive chef.

Gray brings more than 20 years of experience to the role and will oversee culinary strategy and menu development for the company's 340 locations across Canada.

"Michael brings tremendous skills and leadership to Boston Pizza's culinary team," says Ken Otto, chief operating officer of Boston Pizza International. "Michael's addition reinforces our commitment to culinary excellence and the consistent delivery of high-quality and innovative menu items."

Gray is a certified professional chef and his culinary career has spanned 20 years with leading Canadian organizations like Fairmont Hotels, Marriott, and, most recently, as the corporate executive chef and manager of research and development for a major Canadian restaurant chain.

"I'm excited to join Boston Pizza and have the opportunity to share my experiences and culinary insights with the team," said Gray. "This role gives me the opportunity to work with two things that I'm very passionate about every single day – food and people. I love collaborating to create new and exciting dishes, and I truly look forward to sharing these dishes with Boston Pizza guests."

Gray received his formal training in Dublin, Ireland, and moved to Canada in 1991. In addition to working for some of the leading restaurant brands in Canada, he was also one of the executive chefs at the XV Commonwealth games in Victoria.

Dedicated to learning and further developing his skills, Gray is a member of the Research Chefs Association and is also one of only a handful of Canadian chefs that is currently pursuing a Masters in Product Development and Culinary Entrepreneurship.
