Acacia wood pizza peel ‘shimmers’

Ironwood Gourmet has added to its line of renewable, environmentally friendly kitchen products a 14 x 14 inch pizza peel made of acacia wood.

Acacia is an environmentally friendly hardwood grown on all continents and known for rich, dark colours and contrasting patterns, the Ironwood Gourmet website says.

One of the wood’s special characteristics is that it appears to change colour and lustre – to shimmer – under different lighting conditions. The wood can change from a light tan to a dark brown, sometimes appearing similar to walnut and sometimes more like teak.

The manufacturer’s suggested price for the pizza peel is $49.99.

The company also makes boards for carving, prep and cutting, as well as serving items and utensils.
