Features Business and Operations Delivery delivery app Favor Favour

Toronto – Austin, Texas-based Favor will launch its mobile delivery app and service in Toronto on Aug. 27. Torontonians can get food delivered from any area restaurant in less than one hour.

The app, which was developed by entrepreneurs and former pizza delivery guys, Zac Maurais and Ben Doherty, allows customers to order through an app.

The company has rebranded itself as Favour in Canada, the company said in a news release. The app will initially operate from 11 a.m. to  9 p.m. every day with a delivery area covering most of the metro area. (For a full map, visit FavourDelivery.ca/map/Toronto.)

Favour expects to expand both its hours and delivery area in the near future.

To celebrate the launch, the company is lowering cost of deliveries to $2 plus five per cent of the cost of the items for the first two months.

The company recently launched in Denver, Miami, Fort Worth and Nashville.

“Since launching in Austin two years ago, we’ve been able to fine-tune our delivery model, making it easy launch in new markets. We are continually looking to expand in the U.S., but saw Toronto as a massive international opportunity that we felt we could tackle,” said co-founder and chief marketing officer Zac Maurais in the release.

In contrast to Just-Eat, a Toronto online ordering service that lets customers order from restaurants that have their own delivery drivers and have partnered with the company, Favor said its runners bring customers exactly what they want, conversing with them via text message and letting them know approximate wait times.

The company employs more than 50 full-time employees and more than 3,000 part-time.
