Boston Pizza Expanding In Winnipeg
Written by Myron Love
Manitoba Boston Pizza franchisees Richard and Kim Enright are planning to increase their presence in Winnipeg by one-third.

The Enrights started rebuilding the Boston Pizza brand in Winnipeg 10 years ago when it was almost extinct here. While they originally thought that five locations would suffice, they are now up to eight and want to open three or four more.

“Our top priority is to open a location in the downtown,” says Richard Enright. “We need a place with reasonable parking.”

The downtown location would be somewhat different than the other Boston Pizza locations, Enright notes, in that it would “cater more to a lunch crowd and day time business.”

Boston Pizza’s growth in Winnipeg mirrors what is happening across the country. Enright reports that the chain is increasing by 40 locations a year with a lot of room for growth.

“Three-quarters of Boston Pizza’s locations are west of Manitoba while three-quarters of the population of Canada are in the east,” he notes. “We now have outlets in every province and territory in Canada with a huge expansion taking place in Quebec.”
