Food Profit, based in Moncton, N.B., has created software that categorizes restaurants’ product invoice data into the seven primary food-costing categories to help them see the true cost of menu items.

The company’s interactive, visual data display provides a starting point for managing profit in three easy steps, Food Profit says on its website.

A custom dashboard reports where a restaurant’s food cost variances differ from its purchasing targets.

In real time a custom dashboard is updated every time new invoice data is added. This helps users know which products and what suppliers have changed prices, so they know where to take action, the website says.

Through the platform, it is possible to add kitchen yields to batch and plate recipes to know the true cost of production for every menu item.
